Wait for the door to open
I know, easier said than done. Mornings are a blur, it’s a chaotic routine. Late for work, the kids need to know if you brought their favorite stuff bear, did I grab everything I need for the day, the list is endless!
Here are a few tips to help:
- Open the door from the wall station located by your door to help avoid backing into the door.
- Don’t let your kids get in the habit of pushing the remote button.
- Always double check your surroundings when backing out of your garage; that includes making sure the garage door has fully opened before you back out of the garage.
I hit my door!!! Now what?
We all know accidents happen, so when they do, it is best to be prepared:
When you call for repairs, our service department will ask you a few questions to ensure they order you the correct sections or new door:
- How old is your current door?
- What size is your door?
- What color is the door?
- What is the manufacturer/model number of the door?
All of this information can be found on the edge of your garage door sections on a sticker. If you can find this sticker, pull out your smartphone and take a picture. If you are not able to locate the information, an American Door Works technician can be dispatched to ID the door as well.
Keep in mind, some manufacturers have discontinued models and/or your current door may have faded and new sections will tough to match.
What Happens if I get stuck in the garage?
Step #1: Don’t Panic
Step #2: Pull the red handled release hanging from your garage door opener. This will in turn release the arm which is attached to the trolley on your opener rail.
Step #3: Manually raise the door.
Step #4: Manually lower the door for security
ONE DON’T: Never cut the cables on your garage door. The cables are under extreme spring tension and your door is heavy. A cut cable will cause your door to drop suddenly.
